TEX BOYS: Mitch Lundquist Commits to Southwestern

Cy-Fair senior defenseman Mitch Lundquist has committed to play NCAA Division III lacrosse at Southwestern University.

Lundquist said he also considered the Division II program at St. Leo before he settled on the Georgetown, Tex.-based school. Southwestern has the only NCAA-sanctioned men’s lacrosse team in the Lone Star State.

“I felt it was a better fit academically and playing-wise, and I didn’t want to leave the Texas atmosphere,” Lundquist said.

Lundquist added that he realizes he will have to adjust to make a successful transition to the college game.

“I definitely think it’s going to be a lot faster,” he said. “It’s going to take some getting used to, but I’m ready for it. I’ve been looking for something new.”
