NEV BOYS: Johnny Nitti Commits to Mesa State College

Palo Verde senior defenseman Johnny Nitti has committed to play NCAA Division II lacrosse at Mesa State College.
Nitti said he also considered Dominican (N.Y.) and Plymouth State before settling on the Grand Junction, Colo.-based school. Nitti is the 27th player to commit to the fledgling program that will take the field for the first time next spring.
When he gets to campus, Nitti said he will be rooming with his high school teammate JoJo Milosevic, who has also committed to Mesa State.
“Mesa State is the best fit for me academically, because I wanted to minor in graphic design,” Nitti said. “Being a new program, I have a chance to start all four years. That definitely interests me.”
Nitti added that he’s prepared for the game to get much faster at the higher level.
“I think it’s going to be tough,” he said. “Just playing in the all-star games at different tournaments, you can see how the speed of the game changes. I’m ready to see how good I can become.”
